Hi, I’m Mounia. I’m an engineer, a mom, a wife, and soon, I’ll be a mom for the second time. The first time around, I was pure excitement—just looking forward to finally meeting my little one.
This time, I’m still excited, but I’ve also gained a deep respect for the reality of the postpartum period: the sleepless nights, the constant nursing, and the exhaustion. If I'm being honest, I’m a little nervous!
That’s where my "Engineer Brain" takes over. I know I can’t plan for every variable, but I’m going to make this transition as easy on myself as possible.
This blog is my attempt to document that journey. I want to talk unfiltered about nesting projects, the changing body, the nursing wardrobe, and everything in between.
The moment I found out I was pregnant, one of my first thoughts was: How am I going to dress myself? I looked at my old maternity and nursing clothes—the "well-loved" T-shirts were literally falling apart. My attempt at maternity shopping was incredibly ernüchternd (disappointing). Not a single shop had physical products I could actually touch or try on; everything was hidden behind a screen online.
I’m dreading those weeks of being stuck on the sofa nursing, smelling like leaked milk and diapers, with nothing to wear because the laundry is piling up.
So, I made a decision: This time, I’m sewing my own way out. I’m creating enough outfits to last me at least a month without needing to run a single load of laundry.
The IDEA was born: MABEL MAMA. Now embarking on my second journey into motherhood, I am more committed than ever to creating patterns that actually work for our changing bodies.
In my next post, I’ll share my master plan, and I’d love for you to follow along weekly as I execute it.
